Description
Folk Song Worship Services are held each Sunday at Chapel Hill and reflect the deep musical and spiritual roots of the Kerrville Folk Festival.
From the earliest days of the festival, music has been central to these gatherings. Rev. Charlie Sumners, one of the festival’s original directors, led early “Folk Masses” even before Kerrville made its home at Quiet Valley Ranch. When the festival expanded, Rev. Walter Lee joined in leading services, and over the years a rotating group of ministers and song leaders has continued the tradition.
Today, these services are shaped by the voices and songs of the community, guided by different leaders from year to year. While the format and leadership may vary, the heart remains the same: shared songs, thoughtful reflection, and an open invitation to gather in a spirit of respect and inclusion.
